Macaroni Maddnes & Outstanding Killer Whales

A few weeks ago South Hornby School went to the Antarctic Center! We had to write about Antarctic animals. I picked Macaroni penguins and Killer whales! I made my information report on a Piktochart. An information report has a title, general statement, description, and evaluation!

For literacy I was learning about Antarctica! I had to write a description about Antarctica. I have put a lot of wow words into the description!

Snowflake Wonderland

Antarctica is a fascinating place! It is the driest, windiest, and most numbing place in the world! Known as the coldest desert, Antarctica is the fifth largest of the seven continents! Antarctica is gigantic! It is a place that has amazing animals like, penguins, seals, whales, etc!

In Antarctica there are lots of icebergs! Did you know that the big icebergs you see is not even half of it! If you drop an ice cube into a see through cup, only a little bit of the ice cube pops up, just like an iceberg!

Did you know that in Antarctica the temperature gets down to -96.2C! You will have to put on lots of warm cloths on! There are layers and layers and layers of clothing! When I went to the Antarctic center, someone showed us how much clothes you have to wear to go to Antarctica!

Antarctica is HUMONGOUS! It is absolutely bewildering! Antarctic ice can be over 4 kilometers thick! The ice covers 98% of the Antarctic continent! It covers 5.4 million square miles and 26.5 million cubic kilometers of ice!

Antarctica is super cold and snow white! Antarctica is a cold place with so much snow you wouldn’t even be able to imagine how much there is! I think Antarctica is an interesting place because it has land underneath all the snow and ice and it also has the most snow and ice in the world!

Walt: Make the paint look like feathers!

First I drew the penguin, I needed to sketch it out so when I make a mistake I can rub it out! Then I painted the black in, when it dried I panted the orange and yellow, after that I but in a little bit of white and put green in its eyes!
