Holiday Recount 6/5

On Saturday before Anzac Day in the morning I went to Taekwondo. I went because I had grading. My brother and my mum went with me. We drove there. When we were driving I was very excited. I was not to excited because grading takes 2 hours and training is just 1 hour.

When we were there we had to take our socks and shoes of. My brother and I were the second person there. After we took our socks and shoes of my brother and I bowed onto the mat. When we were on the mat my friend Layla came for the grading. We were practicing our self defense and our target 1. After we did the target 1 we did our break fall pattern.

Suddenly my instructor said “Sit on the side of the mat” that means grading has started. The instructor had a piece of paper and called out our names. The instructor called out our names from the highest level to the lowest level.

Then grading started!!! We bowed to the senior belt Hunter and our instructor Jupiter. First we started our warm up. Our warm up was to jog, do star jumps, 10 or 20 push ups, and 10 or 20 sit ups. After we finished our warm up the senior or black and red belts grabbed a pad. We kids had to find a partner and one person had to go to the punching pads and other person had to do push ups and sit ups.

I was doing the push ups and sit ups while my grading partner was with the senior belt kicking. We had to do 50 push ups and 20 sit ups. After that we had to do a thousand hand flicks with our hands up in the middle. I finished first! After I finished I had to do a thousand circles to the inside and after i did a thousand to the inside i had to do another thousand to the outside.

Suddenly it was my turn to kick. I had to kick 20 times. After the 20 kicks we had to wait for the other people.

After that activity we were up to the last activity! We had to line up in our order for this one. We got 3 orders one of them is down we had to do push ups, second one is up which you have to jump up as high as you can a few times, and the final one is back which you have to lie down on you're back and move your arms and legs up in the air.

Suddenly someone said grading is almost finished. Our instructor said “Sit down”. So we sat down onto the mat and got ready to see the results. Our instructor said our names to come up and get our certificates. Suddenly he said my name and I got a….YELLOW BELT. My Brother got a yellow tab on his white belt.

After we got our certificates we bowed out and took a photo. Everybody got their belts after the photo. I was excited for my first tournament because when i’m a yellow belt I can do lots and lots of tournaments.

Star Explosion Writing April 15 2016

My Literacy Class Have Been Writing A Description About An Exploding Star!!! We Had To Watch A Video To See What A Star Looked Like First! Then we filled in a sequence map and a describe ++ map to plan our writing. Here is my description of the exploding star.

Star Explosion

When a star explodes it means the star has reached... the end of it’s life.

When a star wants to explode it starts as boiling hot star. It begins to bubble. The colours are orange and yellow. I think it is like this because it’s getting hotter and hotter and I also think the star is getting ready to explode.  I wonder why are their little explosions first?

The star starts to get bigger and hotter with some mini explosion that looks like popcorn. It starts to get blue flames coming out from the sides, because it’s slowly turning into a big EXPLOSION!!! I wonder how old a star live?

Then it makes a really big flash that goes of the page. Then it starts to explode. The star starts to get blue flames all over it until the whole thing is blue.It’s because it’s getting ready to burst like fireworks and it’s gaining pressure for a BIG explosion!!!

Finally the final part! It starts to turn a vibrant blue and a dark blue colour like the New Zealand flag. Then it grows bigger, bigger and bigger. Until it goes of off the screen completely. Then it...FINALLY EXPLODES!!! I think this because it gets lots of power and flames to explode of off the screen.

I wonder why doesn't it explode all at once?

Overall stars explode in four parts. They explode when they are ready to die.
